Tyra Banks writes an essay that will hopefully end the 'model war'

Tyra Banks hopes to be the voice of reason that puts a stop to this "model war."

On Wednesday, the former co-host of FABLife shared an essay addressing the tension between supermodels of the past and present.

Tyra Banks, America's next top peacemaker.

If you're unfamiliar with this battle of the beautiful, let us catch you up.

Two weeks ago, Stephanie Seymour told Vanity Fair, "Supermodels are sort of the thing of the past," and then suggested (perhaps in jest) that the current top models be called "B------ of the moment."

In April, Rebecca Romijn told Entertainment Tonight that today's "social media stars" weren't "true supermodels." She later took to Twitter to smooth things over with Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid calling both "amazing & beautiful."

After Seymour's comments, E! reported that Jenner took to her app to respond. "If you choose to be a cyberbully, I'm going to stick up for myself," Jenner wrote. She also said, "If people want to call Gigi and I supermodels now, it doesn't take anything away from supermodels of the past."

And for Banks, this catwalk conflict was just too much.

First, in her post, she addressed the OG supermodels who she traveled the globe with interpreting Italian and French maps without any "Ubers or Lyfts around."

"And, after all that hard work, dedication, sacrifice, sidewalk pounding, map folding, metro riding, model apartment living… after all the blood, sweat, fears and floods of tears… we finally were bestowed with the coveted title of Supermodel," Banks exclaimed.

"Fast forward to present day, and some of us are in a state of shock," she wrote. "We witness young girls on reality shows and super popular girls on social media now being called Supermodels and think, 'WHAT?! It’s not fair! Is that kind of success even real?' I’ve gotta be blunt. Yes. IT IS REAL."

As for the new supermodels, Banks understands their burden of having to be accessible on top of having a career.

"You have to look put together all the time, not just on the catwalk but as you arrive backstage," she wrote. "The world is watching your every move, judging whether or not you have acceptable personal style. Oh goodness… it’s that time again. Time for another post on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Vine, Periscope, Facebook Live, Pinterest… all day, every day, all the time."

Banks then extended her gratitude for the new girls in the game.

"I thought Supermodel-dom was over. I thought it was the end of an era. But then you appeared and made it mean something again. Selfishly, the pain, the struggle, the blood, sweat, fears and tears of past Supermodels is not in vain. We won’t die off like an endangered species."
