The 2017 Hyundai Elantra is a completely new car which will replace the fifth generation model currently on sale in India. The car has been battling a downwards sales trend for some time in the market.

The Hyundai Elantra mid-size executive sedan is a people’s favourite which has established a name for itself as a reliable, good looking, and feature laden car. The fifth generation Elantra looked extremely handsome in the erstwhile trademark Hyundai fluidic design language, with big hunches, long swept tail-lamps and wavy character lines. For the upcoming sixth generation of the car, the Korean company has thoroughly updated the styling of the vehicle. The 2017 Hyundai Elantra which has been caught testing in India again, is set for launch by November this year.

The sixth generation Hyundai Elantra has already been launched in various markets all over the world. The car will sport a wide hexagonal grille, LED DRLs, swept-back headlights, a shark fin antenna and LED tail-lights. The side profile will be home to a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels.

The new Hyundai Elantra will be equipped with 1.6-litre direct-injection GDi and 2.0-litre MPi petrol engines while the diesel fuel will be burnt by the 1.6-litre VGT CRDi unit. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, while a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic could be introduced in the top-end diesel variant. The new Elantra measures 4610 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, 1450 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2700 mm.

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra will be locally produced at the automaker’s plant in Chennai. It will compete with other and higher selling models such as the Toyota Corolla and Skoda Octavia while also feud with cars from other segments such as the Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra XUV500.
