Bhubaneswar: The NITI Aayog has asked all states, including Odisha, to prepare a vision document for 2030 in line with the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations.
The vision document will focus on poverty alleviation, better healthcare, gender equality, availability of clean drinking water, better sanitation, affordable clean energy, climate change action plan, rapid industrialization, scope for innovation, infrastructure development and economic growth among others.

"The NITI Aayog has asked the state to submit the report, highlighting the need for interventions in the above-mentioned sectors by both the state and the central government, by August," said chief secretary A P Padhi after a meeting on the preparation of the document.
The state will engage a professional agency to help them prepare the document. This apart, it will also consult experts from the private sector, civil society, academicians and technicians before preparing the document. All departments of the state government will have a special cell to give a feedback on the 2030 vision document, said sources. They added that the proposed document will set year-wise goals for development of different sectors.
"So far, only Assam has prepared its vision document and submitted it to the NITI Aayog," said an officer of the planning and convergence department, the nodal agency for preparing the document.
The NITI Aayog's advisory comes amid the state government's plan to prepare a similar vision document aiming at overall development by 2036.
On December 26, 2015, chief minister Naveen Patnaik had announced to prepare a vision document with the objective of ensuring the holistic development of Odisha by 2036, the centenary year of the state. which was created on April 1,1936.

In the document, the state government had promised 'minimum guarantee' to fulfil primary infrastructure needs in areas like road communication, drinking water, electrification, irrigation, agriculture, education and shelter security for all.
