Kashi youth held with heroin worth Rs57 lakh

The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) nabbed a youth with 570 gm of heroin from Ashapur area in Sarnath on Tuesday night. He was heading towards the city to deliver the consignment to local peddlers. The cost of recovered heroin is estimated as Rs 57 lakhs.

Varanasi: The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) nabbed a youth with 570 gm of heroin from Ashapur area in Sarnath on Tuesday night. He was heading towards the city to deliver the consignment to local peddlers. The cost of recovered heroin is estimated as Rs 57 lakhs.
Superintendent of CBN Ghazipur unit DK Singh said that acting on a tip off a team of CBN cordoned Varanasi-Ghazipur highway on Tuesday night and caught a motorcycle borne youth.

On checking his motorcycle, heroin was found locked inside a secret pocket made under the seat. The youth was later identified as Arvind Singh of Sadibhadi village in Ghazipur district.
During initial interrogation Arvind divulged that he had procured heroin from Malda in West Bengal and was taking it to Varanasi.
