'Das hurting religious sentiments'

DUMKA: Dishom Manjhil Than (the place of worship for Santhalis) and Jaherthan Samiti, the religious bodies that governs the Santhal community, have opposed the construction of a second Dishom Manjhi Than in Dumka's Banskanali village.
Chief minister Raghubar Das laid the foundation of the new place of worship on June 19.
"Since, there can only be one place of worship (which already exists in Dumka), how can there be another?" said Baleswar Hembrom, president of the religious body.
State minister Louis Marandi met representatives of the religious body and assured them the state government would "not hurt the community's religious sentiments." "The chief minister is interfering for political purposes," JMM central committee member Vijay Singh said.
