Belagavi: Minister for small scale industries and district minister Ramesh Jarakiholi on Wednesday said he would end the BJP's dominance in Belagavi district by winning 12 out 18 assembly segments for the Congress.
Speaking to reporters after being felicitated by party workers at the party office in the city, Ramesh said; "I have given my word to chief minister Siddaramaiah that I will end BJP's hold in the district.
I want to win at least 12 seats. I will start working towards strengthening the party from the grassroots."
KPCC women's wing president Laxmi Hebbalkar said that Ramesh's elevation has come as a big boost. "Workers are eager to face the next assembly election under his leadership," she added.
Former KPCC member Shankar Munavalli felicitated the minister. ZP president Asha Aihole, district Congress president Vinay Navalagatti, former legislators Veerkumar Patil and Kakasaheb Patil were present. Later, the minister inspected the new building of the party coming up near Sangolli Rayanna Circle and directed the contractor to complete the construction in six months.
