HYDERABAD: Veteran actor J V Ramana Murthi passed away here on Wednesday. He was 83. Murthi, who was hospitalised for an ailment, breathed his last at a city hospital.
Apart from donning multiple roles in several films, Murthi staged Gurajada’s “Kanyashulakam” more than 1,000 times earning encomiums for the play that he directed.
Ramana Murthi was the brother of noted actor J V Somayajulu, who had acted in the Telugu classic “Shankarabharanam”.
He had died in 2004.
Murthi was born in Srikakulam on May 20, 1933. He was introduced to the silver screen through the film “MLA” directed by K B Tilak in 1957. He also acted in Chiranjeevi-starrer “Shankar Dada Zindabad” in 2007. He played various character roles in more than 150 movies.
