AAP can't expel me, doesn't want to lose votes: Khalsa
Patiala: Remaining defiant, suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Harinder Singh Khalsa on Wednesday said the party couldn't expel him out of the fear of losing votes. However, he was quick to add that he would quit the day "disgruntled" AAP volunteers get their own party registered with the Election Commission of India.
The Fatehgarh Sahib MP said AAP was deviating from its stated principles and indulging in corruption.
"Let AAP expel me. I will not resign voluntarily. It is the question of my votes; AAP does not want to lose them," Khalsa said.
Khalsa took on the party over the AAP-ruled Delhi government releasing advertisements in Punjab to highlight it achievements. "Eyeing the assemby polls in Punjab, crores of rupees from the state exchequer have been squandered. Still, AAP says it is honest," Khalsa said. "When it comes to the use of vile strategies and corrupt practices, I find no difference between AAP and other politifcal parties," he said.
'Kejriwal is a
dictator'
Regarding his tough posture agianst AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, Khalsa said the Delhi CM had become a dictator. "AAP leaders from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are calling the shots in Punjab. The conduct of some of those leaders is unacceptable. I'd like to see more Punjabis getting respect and honour in the party," he said.
Khalsa said it was tragic that a party which had given a hope to Punjabis had betrayed its own members in the state. He said he would certainly not support the 'garbage' collected by AAP from other parties. "If they were put up as candidates, I will oppose them in the coming elections," he said.
