Lightning kills teen girl in Sabarkantha village, 3 injured

One person was killed and three others injured after being struck by lightening in Sakarkantha district, as south-west monsoon arrived in the Gujarat on Wednesday and advanced over parts of coastal Saurashtra, south Gujarat region and east central regions of the state.

Palanpur/Rajkot: One person was killed and three others injured after being struck by lightening in Sakarkantha district, as south-west monsoon arrived in the Gujarat on Wednesday and advanced over parts of coastal Saurashtra, south Gujarat region and east central regions of the state.
The sporadic rains were recorded in many parts of Saurashtra and a few parts of north Gujarat on Wednesday.

Aruna Khant (17) died after she and three others were struck by lightning while working in the farm on the outskirts of Demai village in Himmatnagar taluka of Sabarkantha. The injured have been admitted to Himmatnagar civil hospital.
One buffalo also died after being hit by lightning in Kalipura village of Prantij taluka in Sabarkantha. Vijaynagar and Himmatnagar towns in north Gujarat received 21mm and 22 mm rainfall respectively on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, according to flood control room officials in Saurashtra, Visavadar in Junagadh received 20 mm rainfall while Khambha in Amreli registered 10 mm of rain. Rains also occurred in Bhavnagar, Rajkot and Surendranagar districts.
On Tuesday night, Muli in Surendranagar received 52 mm rain, while Padadhari in Rajkot received 33 mm. Rainfall also occurred in some places in Kutch district.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, light to moderate rains are likely to occur at few places in next two days in Saurashtra region.
