Female extortionist held

KARACHI - The Karachi police on Wednesday arrested 27 suspects including a female extortionist during raids in different areas of the city. On a tip-off, the police raided a hideout in Baghdadi area and arrested the woman extortionist identified as Fatima, and recovered extortion money from her possession.

SSP City Faizullah Koreejo said that the alleged extortionist was collecting extortion for a gang’s ring leader identified as Rizwan Paindu, a close accomplice of wanted terrorist Ustad Taju.

Meanwhile, the police conducted a search operation in Nazimabad and arrested two alleged target killers affiliated with a political party. The suspects were identified as Qadir and Mohsin. The police also claimed to have recovered weapons and explosives from their possession. 

Meanwhile, the police carried out a search operation in the Sultanabad locality and rounded up 24 suspects. The identity of the suspects could not be ascertained immediately.

 

 

Separately, a target killer, Zafar Khan, who was arrested from MQM’s Headquarters Nine-Zero, has confessed to killing 20 people. A Joint Investigations Team had been formed to interrogate Khan, who according to investigators, confessed to arson, killing of police officials and civilians in parts of Karachi from 1994 to 1999.

The alleged target killer also confessed to killing a DSP and setting ablaze several vehicles during a strike in 1994, according to the JIT report.

Meanwhile, the police arrested six criminals and recovered four stolen vehicles and one kg drugs from their possession here.

SSP Tanvir Aalam said heavy contingent of police conducted operation against drug peddlers in different area of Saudabad in the metropolis. He said that during search operation the police apprehended six criminals, recovered four snatched/stolen vehicles, one kilogram drugs worth hundreds of thousand rupees and after registering cases against the detainees at respective police station started the investigation.
