Over 2,000 TYBA students’ results withheld as colleges, MU tussle over internal marks
University of Mumbai declared the results of sixth semester exams under the Third year Bachelor of Arts (TYBA) course. A total of 16,826 students had appeared for their final semester TYBA exams held in April.

While the university recorded a pass percentage of 68.26%, a total of 2,361results were withheld by the university due to the internal marks not being received from colleges.

Every year, thousands of students are caught between the college-university tussle wherein their results are withheld in the absence of clarity towards internal marks that students receive from the college.

“Thousands of students do not get their results every year because of the lax attitude of the university. If the colleges cannot send the marks on time, the university should pull up the respective colleges for not doing their job on time so that students don’t have to suffer” said Sudhakar Tamboli, ex senate member of the university. Tamboli said that the university should fine colleges if there are such delays.953 students got an O (outstanding) grade, 3,406 students got an ‘A’ grade and 2,964 students passed the examination with a ‘B’ grade.

MA Khan, Registrar, University of Mumbai, said that despite several warnings, colleges fail to send the details of their students on time. “Every year, there are a few colleges that do not send the internal marks on time or do not complete the formalities for students’ eligibility for the exam. We try our best but there are new defaulters every year,” said Khan. MMB
