Students of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) have bagged the ‘Best Student Project’ and ‘Best Student’ awards from tech giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

For 2015-16, four students from the Department of Information Science and Engineering have bagged the Best Student Project award for their project — an online article popularity prediction system. The project was designed by Abhishek C.M., Akshata Mohan, Shagun Bhatia and Shreyas Ramesh under the guidance of B.S. Mahanad, associate professor in the department, a press release said.

TCS has also chosen Bindushree from the Department of Civil Engineering as the ‘Best Student of the College’ for her consistent performance in academics. A gold medal, a certificate of appreciation and cash prize of Rs. 10,000 were given to her. The awards were presented by Srinivas Ramanujam, Academic Relationship Manager, TCS – Karnataka.

The award ceremony was presided over by Shakeeb Ur Rahman, principal, SJCE, who appreciated the continued collaboration between SJCE and TCS. He said such awards and industry recognition would boost the morale of students and faculty to develop quality projects and products. He also spoke about working closely with TCS to design a new curriculum that would bridge the gap between industry and educational institutions.
