Man nabbed with 40-kg poppy husk

ABOHAR: The Abohar police today claimed to have nabbed Joginder Singh of Panjawa Mandla village on the Abohar-Sriganganagar road with a bag that carried 40 kg of poppy husk, the sale of which had been banned by Rajasthan on March 31.

The Abohar police today claimed to have nabbed Joginder Singh of Panjawa Mandla village on the Abohar-Sriganganagar road with a bag that carried 40 kg of poppy husk, the sale of which had been banned by Rajasthan on March 31.

The seizure was made after they intercepted a bike, which Joginder was riding.

In the neighbouring Sriganganagar, about 100 personnel of the excise department staff and police raided several houses in Redbuggy village before sunrise today and destroyed 8,500 litre of ‘lahan’ besides seizing 30 litres of home-made liquor. However, no arrests have been made.

In Nohar segment of Hanumangarh, 20 cartons of Corex syrup, which were unloaded by a private bus outside the railway station were taken into custody. The police are investigating. Preliminary inquiry indicated that the cartons were loaded at Agra.
