Dehradun, June 22
The Dehradun-based Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG) has successfully installed a micro meteorological station at the Pindari glacier at 12,000 ft in the Kumaon Himalayas.
Prof Anil Kumar Gupta, WIHG Director, said a team of the Centre for Glaciology at the institute, led by senior scientist Dr DP Dobhal, successfully installed the micro meteorological station.
“Besides recording temperatures from the valley, the station will also provide information on water and energy balance at the glacier,” Prof Gupta added.
Besides Dr Dobhal, Dr Nilendu Singh, Dr Pankaj Chauhan and Mohit Singhal were part of WIHG team that installed the micro meteorological station. —TNS
