Driver of MTC bus assaulted by four people

Chennai: A gang of four on motorcycles assaulted a driver of an MTC bus near the Gandhinagar bus stand close to ICF on Tuesday.
Police said the bus was plying on route 46 between Thiru Vi Ka Nagar and Koyambedu when four men on two motorcycles came dangerously close to it while trying to overtake the bus. When the bus driver, Balaji of T P Chatram, questioned them the four got onto the bus, assaulted him and fled.
Balaji sustained injuries on his nose and was rushed to the Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. Other MTC drivers resorted to a snap strike by parking their vehicles haphazardly. As police rushed to the spot and intervened, the striking drivers called off the strike.
