In Short

  • Three doctors in Jalandhar posed for camera in the middle of a surgery.
  • Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences has taken a note of the case and ordered an inquiry.
  • 1 of the doctors posted the photo on FB & captioned it 'midnight tashan at OT'.

No one lying unconscious on an operating table will be too happy to co-star in a group photo.

But surgeons at Jalandhar's Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) had no qualms about posing together around their anesthetized patient.

Decked in scrubs, the three doctors grinned for the camera, with one of them placing surgical knives on the numb belly of the sick person.

Their portraits went viral on social media after their team leader allegedly posted them on Facebook on Friday.

PIMS authorities acted swiftly after the pictures, captioned "Midnight Tashan", sparked outrage.

Hospital director Kanwaljeet Singh ordered an internal inquiry.

The three doctors featuring in the happy snap around their patient have been served with a show-cause notice, Singh said.

Further action, he added, would be based on the inquiry report.

ANOTHER BIZARRE INCIDENT

In another bizarre news report from Punjab, a dancing groom and his friend were hit in a celebratory gunfire apparently fuelled by macho songs.

A bullet hit groom Kamalpreet Singh in the arm and another his friend, Gurpreet Singh, in the head, police said.

Gurpreet Singh is reported critical in hospital.

The groom and his guests were cavorting to Punjabi songs glorifying firearms when celebratory gunshots erupted, sources say.
