Mumbai: A 26-year-old
doctor called off her hunger strike on Wednesday following the suspension of state
health minister Dr Deepak Sawant’s
personal secretary, Sunil Mali, who ‘misbehaved’ with her.
The Jalgaon-based medical officer of a public healthcare centre had complained to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday. She alleged that Mali had engaged her in a chat for two hours inside the ante-chamber, asking personal questions, when she went to submit a project to the minister.
Sawant was not available for comment.
“Finally, Mali has been
suspended by the state government. But my fight will go on,” she said. She was admitted to GT hospital on Wednesday due to low blood pressure. “Director of state health services Dr Mohan Jadhav informed me about Mali’s suspension. So I broke my fast at the hospital,” she said.
