PKR grateful its leaders from peninsula allowed to pay last respects to Bill

MIRI: PKR Sarawak is thankful that the state government has given the party’s top leaders from Peninsular Malaysia seven days from yesterday to be in Miri to pay their last respects to the late Bill Kayong @ Mohd Asbi Abdullah.

Speaking at a press conference at PKR Miri Service Centre here yesterday, Baharuddin Dato Mokhsen, member of PKR State Leadership Council, said the party also thanked the State Secretary’s Office for the kind gesture.

“We would like to keep on record the state government’s kind gesture in giving our counterparts from Peninsular Malaysia the chance to pay their last respects to Bill Kayong,” he said.

Others present were PKR Sarawak secretary Nicholas Bawin Anggat, former PKR Jepak candidate Abdul Jalil Bujang, former PKR candidate for Kalaka Jemat Panjang, PKR members Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh and Steve Teo.

According to Baharuddin, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, vice-president and Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar and PKR top leaders from Selangor, Wilayah Persekutuan and Malacca will be coming tomorrow to pay their last respects to Bill.

He said the post-mortem on Bill’s remains was done yesterday, after which his body was brought to his home at Desa Senadin.

He extended the party’s appreciation to family members, friends and relatives for making the arrangement to bring back the body from the hospital smooth.

He further said the late Bill will be buried tomorrow after his body has undergone Islamic rites at Masjid Ar Rayaan, Permyjaya.

He added that the body will brought to the mosque at 9.30am and brought to the Muslim cemetery at Jalan Batu Satu, Lutong-Kuala Baram road for burial after Friday prayers and Jenazah prayer.

“His demise shocked our leaders from Peninsula,” he disclosed.

On the late Bill’s family members, he said state and Miri PKR would do their best for them, especially the children who are still studying.

“Firstly, we want to clear the burial process and bury Bill with respect and then proceed with assisting Bill’s children,” he elaborated.
