District Development Commissioner Ramesh Kumar today convened a meeting to review the status of various tribal welfare initiatives and schemes under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP).Addressing the officers from concerned departments, DDC said that there is a need for increased inter departmental coordination and better planning for socio-economic development of tribal populace. The objective of TSP can only be fulfilled by providing quality education, employability and infrastructure for Tribals, he added.It was informed in the meeting that out of Rs. 410.55 lakh earmarked under TSP by tribal affairs department, Rs. 267.75 lakh have been allocated for education department, Rs. 35.70 lakh for RDD, Rs. 17.85 lakh for animal and sheep husbandry department, Rs. 35.70 lakh for health department, Rs. 17.85 lakh for agriculture and production department, Rs17.85 lakh for science and technology Department and Rs. 17.85 lakhs for skill development under Infrastructure Development Component of TSP.DDC laid thrust upon the officers to complete ongoing development projects before taking up any new projects. He also called for timely completion of projects to avoid cost escalation.He directed CEO to focus on development of infrastructure in primary and higher secondary schools, e-classrooms and libraries in schools having maximum tribal students. 

He also called to incorporate scholarships for tribal students who scored over 90 % marks in academics under TSP.DDC directed the animal and sheep husbandry department to keep a provision of small milk chilling units for the tribals while framing the plan for this year.He also directed XEN PWD (R&B) Basohli to submit the revised estimate for remaining work of the Gujjar & Bakkerwal hostel at Bani, which was stopped due to funds constraints. He also asked concerned department to keep a provision of upto Rs 20 lacs for Gujjar & Bakkerwals hostel at Kathua and directed the department to also make a provision for a PG Hostel in Kathua under the plan.DDC directed health department to keep provision for purchase of medical equipments and infrastructure for better healthcare facilities in the tribal villages. He directed science and technology department to keep the provision of LED street lights in the tribal dominated areas and solar lights for unelectrified tribal habitations. He directed floriculture department to keep plan for purchase of vegetable seeds and fertilizers for this year plan.He said focus needs to be on Convergence of skill development with other departments which can help to make them self-employed. He stressed upon all the officers to submit action plan of their respective department within two days time.Rural development department was asked to take up small footbridge and bridle path construction work under convergence with MGNREGA.The meeting was also attended by ADDC Manmohan Singh, CPO Ram Rattan, CMO, Chief Agriculture Officer and other sectoral officers.In another meeting to review the planning and execution of various tribal welfare initiatives under Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana, DDC asked ACD to identify villages under the plan for the year to develop an enhanced convergence among various schemes aimed at welfare of tribal communities. DDC stressed on improving the outcomes of various interventions for tribal welfare and instructed all the departments to work in coordination to meet the targeted objectives within specified timeframes.
