Glastonbury will release a live album in tribute to Jo Cox

The album, called Stand As One – Live at Glastonbury 2016, the first of its kind, is being produced to support and raise funds for Oxfam's new campaign which aims to put pressure on world leaders to welcome and support refugees, and is dedicated to the memory of murdered MP Jo Cox.

The Labour politician, who was murdered whilst conducting a surgery for her constituents at Birstall Library, was a former Oxfam activist, and even had a stint as the charity's head of policy. During her time with Oxfam, Cox advocated and supported the rights of refugees.

Oxfam said: "The world is in the middle of the most serious refugee crisis since the Second World War.

"More than 65 million people have been forced to flee their homes by brutal conflict and violence, millions more by natural disaster and poverty."

The album will also include live tracks donated by other artists performing over the weekend, such as The 1975, The Last Shadow Puppets, Fatboy Slim and Jack Garratt. More artists are expected to join, including Glastonbury headliner Adele.

Emily Eavis, co-organiser and youngest daughter of Glastonbury's founder and organiser Michael Eavis said: "We are making this special live album from Glastonbury this summer because the scale of the refugee crisis is so huge we simply had to do something.

Jo Cox's husband: Jo met the world with love

"We want people who are far from home to know the artists who play here are doing whatever they can. To know people who love their music are doing whatever they can. Now it's time for world leaders to do the same.

"All of us - Glastonbury, Oxfam, musicians and music-lovers everywhere must Stand As One to demand action for refugees."
