Yerwada Central Jail authorities agreed to give him a hearing on June 28: Police

Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convict AG Perarivalan has filed an RTI at Yerwada Central Jail seeking to view documents pertaining to Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt's premature release in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

Police sources said jail authorities agreed to give him a hearing on June 28. It was learnt that the Perarivalan, along with others in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, charges similar to the ones slapped against Dutt. The convicts wanted to know on what grounds Dutt was released while they are still behind bars.

For the last few months there have been political protests in Tamil Nadu for the release of Rajiv Gandhi killers who have been sentenced to death by the Supreme Court.

They urged state Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's government to intervene for their release as they have served more than 25 years in prison.
