ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday again issued warrants for the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri for their alleged involvement in an attack on Asmat Junejo, former senior superintendent of the capital police. Junejo came under attack when he was performing his duty at PTI and PAT sit-ins in Islamabad’s Red Zone in 2014. Anti-terrorism court judge Sohail Ikram took up the violence case on Monday. Investigation officer Yasin Bhutta filed a compliance report in the court. He said in the report that a police team went to the residence of the PTI chairman for his arrest, but the security guard deployed outside his residence told the police that he knew nothing about the whereabouts of Khan. He said that Qadri could not be arrested because he was abroad. The court again issued warrants for the arrest of PTI and PAT chiefs and adjourned the hearing of the case till July 25. It is pertinent to mention here that Khan and Qadri are facing allegations of torture on uniformed police personal and interference in the state affairs. Cases have been registered against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
