Debt-ridden Rewa farmer kills self

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh, a state that has consistently set new benchmarks by generating highest agricultural yield in the last few years, saw another debt-ridden farmer committing suicide in Rewa district on Monday night. The state has reported one of the highest farmer suicides in past two years.
Fifty-year-old Ashok Shukla hanged self to death at his house in Barwha village in Chorhata area of Rewa district late on Monday night.
It was after few hours that Ashok's 6-year-old son, Ashish saw him hanging from ceiling in his room and reported the matter to family members.
Kin of late Ashok said that he was under the pressure of repaying back loans to the tune of Rs 15 lakh from government and private lenders, said police.
