Gorakhpur: Communal tension prevailed here on Tuesday when members of Hindu Yuva Vahini protested against use of loudspeaker at Noorul Islam Madrassa in Narshighpur. No FIR has been lodged and no arrests have been made yet.
Around 11.30 am, some members of Hindu Yuva Vahini reached the madrassa and asked the management to switch off the loudspeaker.
Police reached the spot and summoned the representatives of each group to the police station.
Hindu Yuva Vahini state president Sunil Singh said the madrassa committee gave HUY a letter mentioning that the building was not a mosque. But they started 'azan' using a loudspeaker and HUY protested against it.
Samajwadi Party leader Ziaul Islam, who headed the other group during the discussion, said, "We wanted to use the loudspeaker during Ramzan and it could be removed later. They were insisting to shift it within 72 hours."
