POONCH,  June 21: Taking another step contributing towards  welfare and upliftment of local population especially in villages located in remote areas,  Army organized a medical and veterinary camps as part of civil- military cooperation on June 20 and 21 at village Narian in Mandi area of Poonch district.
Rashtriya Rifles battalion located at Sawjian organised the event which was also witnessed by the Commander Poonch brigade.    A team comprising of four  Army doctors and 5 staff members from civil hospital Mandi and 2 Army Vety doctors and 2 doctors from civil Animal Husbandry Poonch took part in the Medical and Veterinary camp which witnessed huge turnout of local population and also Gujjars and Bakarwals who are in this region during summers.
Nearly 550 patients and over 4000 animals received free treatment and medicines during the camp.
This occasion was also utilized to bring awareness to various Govt launched welfare schemes for the poor with large number of locals subscribing to various insurance, pension and other schemes. A children Mela was also organized where various games and competitions were organized for children of various age groups.
