This Bridal Party’s ’Fro Game Just Won Wedding Season

Like most brides, Nakyia Whitty had a wedding day she will always remember — and thanks to her gorgeous wedding photos that went viral, so will the rest of us. Whitty posted a picture of herself posing with her bridesmaids, who were all dressed in gorgeous gowns (no ugly bridesmaid dresses here) and, most notably, every member of her bridal party proudly sported a voluminous, fluffy afro.
According to BuzzFeed, Nakyia had been planning to make sure her bridesmaids wore their hair in its natural state, to show that in spite of what society says about black women’s hair (it’s unprofessional, unkempt, untamable), it’s actually beautiful, worthy, and awe-inspiring. “Wearing my natural hair signifies who I am as a black woman, who God created me to be,” she said.
Nakyia and her bridesmaids are the epitome of hair goals, and we’re sure they’ve given plenty of women hair-spiration for this wedding season. Here’s to more ’fros during wedding season and beyond!
