Amritsar, June 21

The four-week general orientation programme-99 concluded at UGC- Human Resource Development Centre of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) here today. As many as 47 university and college teachers from various parts of the country participated in the programme.

IG, border range, Dr Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, presided over the valedictory session. He emphasized on strengthening the bond between academics and governance. While highlighting various administrative and socio-political issues before society, he said contribution of an individual in dealing with them could not be underestimated.

He said, “Instead of eternally criticizing a system and individuals for all evils, we should also introspect and contribute our mite to ameliorate things.” Dr Pratap also interacted with the participants and entertained their queries. He exhorted them to exercise their right to franchise during elections vigilantly, rationally, logically and not to get carried away by narrow considerations of caste, region etc.

Prof Amarjit Singh Sidhu felicitated the participants on successful completion of the course. Dr Mohan Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
