55 Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims enter Tibet

PITHORAGARH: The first batch of 55 Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims entered Tibet from the Lipulekh pass in Pithoragarh district yesterday.

The first batch of 55 Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims entered Tibet from the Lipulekh pass in Pithoragarh district yesterday.

The batch had reached the last trek route camp of Nabhidhan last evening and left to cross the 17,500-ft-high Lipulekh pass at 4 am, Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) officers said.

“All members of the first batch were hale and hearty at the time of crossing over to Tibetan plateau from the pass. The batch will stay at Taklakot town of Tibet tonight and resume its journey to Kailash Mansarovar tomorrow,” said Trilok Singh Martolia, in charge, KMVN Yatra.

Martolia added that the members of the first batch would remain in the Kailash Mansarovar region in Tibet till June 27 and come back to the Lipulekh pass on June 28. They will return to Delhi from the Jageswar route on July 3.

The second batch of 48 pilgrims reached the trek route camp of Bundi yesterday, while the third batch of 41 members has already arrived at Kathgodam in the Kumaon region from New Delhi. The second batch will reach Gunji camp for second medical checkup after a day’s rest tomorrow.
