Metrowater: Get sewerage connections
Chennai: A day after a Times of India reader highlighted the sewage problems faced by residents of Ambattur, the Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (Metrowater) has said people in the area can apply for sewerage connections.
K Vasudevan wrote in the 'Citizen Connect' section that residents of Ambattur continued to suffer due to overflowing sewage from septic tanks and requested the authorities concerned to address the issue.
Responding to his grievance, a Metrowater official said in a communication that Under Ground Sewerage Scheme (UGSS) was completed and commissioned in Ambattur. "Now the public residing in divisions 79 to 82 and 85 can apply for sewer connections," he said.
A special camp was conducted at Greater Chennai Corporation Zonal Office VII in Ambattur to guide the public on applying for sewer and water connections. Field officials are also regularly contacting resident welfare associations to clarify their queries in this regard.
