Chennai: Still coming to terms with the plaudits she won for foregoing a seat at Madras Medical College (MMC) for her friend Janani N, the day played out according to script for Varshini S.
Varshini, who stood first in the quota for children of ex-servicemen on day one of the state medical and dental counselling, was ranked 140 in the general category counselling that began on Tuesday and will continue to share classes with Janani at MMC.

"I knew I would get into MMC and this was confirmed by the counselling officials yesterday. My friendship with Janani will extend into the realms of MMC as well," said the elated youngster who graduated from SRV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tiruchy.
The top three rankers, Aadithya Mahesh, Vignesh V and Gnanavel EJ, who scored a cut-off of 200 marks, also booked their berths at MMC. The other seven in the top 10 with 199.75 marks also ticked MMC as their preferred choice.
C Vijayabhaskar, minister for health and family welfare, threw open the general category counselling and praised the top 10 who made it to the hall of fame.
