The widow of Greenville police Officer Allen Jacobs, who was shot and killed earlier this year, is sharing heart-wrenching maternity pictures. Jacobs was killed in March after he and another officer tried to talk to a teenager in the Nicholtown neighborhood. Meghan Murphy Jacobs is expecting the couple's first child, a baby girl she will name Lennox, in July. Jacobs also has two sons, Michael and Dillon.The maternity pictures, taken by Jessie Ellex, include several Greenville police officers saluting Meghan Jacobs; the folded American flag presented to Meghan at Allen's funeral; Meghan wearing her husband's uniform shirt and his badge tied on a blue ribbon wrapped around her stomach. "Meghan had the idea to include the policeman in her photos, since she had to do this without her beloved husband," Ellex said. "They are now her protectors." The photo shoot took place on Sunday, Father's Day, and started  at 2:30 p.m. and lasted until after 7:30 p.m., according to Ellex. Meghan's baby shower was held on Saturday, before the photo shoot, Ellex said."The photo shoot took all day because I wanted these photos to be absolutely perfect," Ellex said. "I let her check every single photo to ensure perfection, and would re-shoot any right on the spot."Ellex said she has been friends with Meghan for more than 15 years. They met while snowboarding on Masthope Mountain in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania, she said."For me, she was the sister I never had and I would do anything for her," Ellex said.Ellex said she is still going through the 600 photos taken on Sunday."When Lennox is born, we plan to mimic these exact photos with her and the policeman to show she will always be protected even though she will never be able to have daddy kisses and get to know the great man her daddy was," Ellex said One picture shows Meghan holding her iPhone with a picture of Allen that makes it looks like he is kissing her stomach. "The photo of her holding the phone of Allen kissing her belly is from her engagement session I took over a year ago," Ellex said. "I worked two days to edit that photo to include him in one of the pictures. And that one is one of my favorites." Another picture shows Meghan holding an American flag with a blue stripe. "The world lost a police officer, but we lost our dear friend, husband, father, son and brother," Ellex said. "I hope that my photographs can help (Meghan) heal and others who may be going through the same situation."Get the WCVB News App
