Jets' Brandon Marshall eats grouper and blueberries to placate coach

Brandon Marshall received a homework assignment for his summer break: Lose a few pounds before the season. That request came from Todd Bowles, coach of the New York Jets.

In a video posted to his Twitter account, the Pro Bowl wide receiver revealed that Bowles wants him to stay under 230 pounds for the entire season. Marshall said his average over the last five seasons was 234 to 235 pounds. He claimed he was 230 last year, although his weight probably fluctuated throughout the season.

"He said, 'Brandon, you were so fast in Miami, that's what I want you at,'" Marshall said in the video, quoting Bowles.

So what does the "Bowles Diet" entail? In the video, Marshall, showing the enthusiasm of a kid forced to eat his veggies, displayed one meal in particular -- grouper and blueberries. Is your mouth watering yet?

Marshall turned 32 in March, so he's no youngster anymore. In his first season with the Jets, he showed no signs of slowing down, as he set the team record with 109 receptions. He also had 1,502 yards and 14 touchdown catches. He became only the third player in NFL history to have at least 100 catches and 1,500 yards at the age of 31 or older. The others were Hall of Famer Jerry Rice and Andre Johnson.
