Cattle smuggler hurt in police crossfire in Jhajjar, 5 bulls rescued

CHANDIGARH: One cattle smuggler sustained bullet injuries during the cross fire with Anti cow slaughter cell police team in Ghod village Jhajjar on the night intervening Monday and Tuesday.
Identified as Mobeen Khan, the smuggler was part of five member team who were ferrying the cows in a Bolaro transport vehicle. A case for attacking the government servents and attempt to murder and various sections of Cow Slaughter Act has been registered against them at Beri police station of Jhajjar.
"As on now we have been able to establish his identified.
Since he is unfit to give statement, hence it will take some time to establish identity of others. Mobeen too is a history sheeter with 5 cases of heinous crimes have been registered against him,’’ Jhajjar SSP Jashandeep Singh said.
Police said that five bulls and the vehicle used in the crime has been recovered. While police parties are conducting raids to round up the rest.
According to information, the incident occurred at around 2.00am on Tuesday when acting on a tip off a team of anti cow slaughter cell police party headed by an assistant sub inspector (ASI) Hawa Singh started chasing the vehicle ferrying cows on Jhajjar Beri road.
As the vehicle broke barricades, the police party started the chase. As the police vehicle came close, the smugglers tried to overturn that by htting from the side. Meanwhile, the smugglers fired two shots which had hit the wind screen and front side of police party.

As police team fired in return , two bullets hit Mobeen in his shoulder and chest. Their vehicle too got imbalanced. Rest occupants managed toe escape while leaving Mobeen on the spot.
Notably, this is the second such incident in past six months wherein a cow smugglers have got into the exchange of fire with police.
Earlier it happened in Kurukshetra district. One cow smuggler was killed and his associates managed to escape. The Haryana police is already facing a criminal litigation on this incident.
