Walsall have confirmed a quartet of players have rejected new deals and will leave the club.

Romaine Sawyers, Jason Demetriou, Paul Downing and Milan Lalkovic have all turned down contract offers at the Banks's Stadium.

Defender Demetriou is close to joining Southend while Sawyers is expected to move to a Sky Bet Championship club, with Brentford keen, and Lalkovic is interesting Portsmouth.

The Saddlers had set a deadline of Monday for the out-of-contract players to signal their intentions and Reece Flanagan, Craig MacGillivray, Liam Roberts and first-year professionals Kory Roberts and Rory Oliver have all agreed terms.

Midfielder Anthony Forde remains in discussions with the club but Walsall are yet to hear from Sam Mantom, Jordan Cook and Andy Taylor.
