Kumar Sangakkara becomes second Sri Lankan to score 19000 runs in first class cricket

Sri Lankan batting legend Kumar Sangakkara may have retired from international cricket, but that doesn't stop him from breaking records.

The maverick left-hander while batting for Surrey against Nottinghamshire, reached the 19000-run mark in first class cricket.

The 38-year-old needing 18 to get to the magical figure, scored 29 runs before becoming succumbing to a Stephen Mullaney delivery.

The only other Sri Lankan with more runs than him is Gehan Mendis, who has 2425 more runs than Sanga. Mahela Jayawardene is next in the line with 17,843 runs.
