As Prime Minister Narendra Modi struck an asana on International Day of Yoga at the Capitol Complex in Chandigarh, corporates and film industry members too pitched in on the occasion.

Addressing a gathering of 30,000 participants in Chandigarh, Modi said, “This day is linked to good health, and it has become a mass movement. Yoga is not about what one will get, but it is about what one can give up.”

He said with zero budget, yoga provides health assurance, and does not discriminate between rich and poor. To honour those who are working to popularise the ancient spiritual practice, two awards will be instituted, one each at national and international level, Modi added.

While Cabinet ministers tweeted pictures of them at yoga sessions, corporates too pitched in on this occasion.

Cairn India said that it has introduced several fitness programmes at their workplace such as yoga, functional training and a running programme to improve the overall well-being of their employees.

“At Cairn, we believe that efforts to improve employee health can significantly raise productivity while improving the quality of life of every employee. The goal is to have all of our employees involved in the pursuit of their physical and mental well-being,” Sudhir Mathur, acting CEO of Cairn India Ltd, said.

Cairn India’s Ravva asset has also developed a “Stress Management Program” that includes identifying avenues of workplace stress and evaluating individual stress levels.
