You won't find India in Independence Day: Resurgence because we are too 'SENSITIVE'!

The sequel to the 1996 hit Independence Day will be out this week. As you know it is about little aliens, who are not related to ET or Jadoo, pay a friendly visit to our desirable planet and play Battle Tank with some of our famous landmarks!

Yes, our country has been spared from the mass annihilation in the upcoming alien invasion flick...thanks to our penchant for protesting and censoring!

Accept it, we are a little touchy and bit protective off all things Indian! Not that we keep our monuments clean and litter-free, but when it comes to foreigners referencing them or destroying them in the movies, we shout 'NOT FAIR'! The sequel to the 1996 hit Independence Day will be out this week. As you know it is about little aliens, who are not related to ET or Jadoo, pay a friendly visit to our desirable planet and play 'Battle Tank' with some of our famous landmarks! While the original film had the aliens blasting off the White House, the new film has not spared Burj Al Khalifa and Las Vegas as seen in the last trailer! Like Jeff Goldblum's character in the film say, "They always go for the landmarks!" However, fellow Indians, please do not worry! None of the our famous landmarks will be shown getting destroyed in the new film, so they are all free for us to draw our initials on! An unnamed source from the studio told a leading daily that, "Keeping the sensitivities of all the religious groups and other activists in mind, the makers were asked to not shoot in India or portray any prominent monuments being damaged." It was any other day, I would have agreed with that statement, but certain previous experiences prevents me from doing so. Because we did have a few of our landmarks destroyed in a couple of Hollywood films.

There were talks that Censor Board had wanted to remove the scene where Taj Mahal is shown getting destroyed in last year's Pixels. But when I saw the movie in the theatre, the scene was still there...

We also did not raise much hue and cry when Taj Mahal (again?) was destroyed in Mars Attack!

Heck, we did not even bat an eyelid when Roland Emmerich (director of both Independence Day and its sequel) destroyed our entire country in a mega tsunami! Why, we even forgave Jimi Mistry for his outrageous Indian accent!

The one thing we had an issue with was when Steven Spielberg showed India as the land of snake and monkey brains eaters! That time, the film was criticised for the negative portrayal of our country and rightfully so!

So we are not exactly that sensitive, mind you!
