TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - M. Yusuf, Chief of the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) said that the PPATK is waiting for request from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate the suspicious Rp 30 billion flow of fund to Teman Ahok (Friends of Ahok), a volunteer group that supported Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.
"We are still waiting for information from the KPK," Yusuf said on Tuesday, June 21, 2016.
However, Yusuf said that the PPATK, as a financial intelligence agency, can conduct its own investigation without any request from any party.
Yusuf explained that the PPATK is waiting for a request from the KPK to provide a detailed information on the flow of funds, both its origin and who it was intended for.
Previously, Junimart Girsang, a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) had asked for information on the suspicious fund during a meeting with the KPK. "We received information that there is a Rp 30 billion fund from developers of the [Jakarta Bay] reclamation project for Teman Ahok, channeled through Sunny [Tanuwidjaja] and Cyrus [Network]," Junimart said in the meeting on June 15, 2016.
In response to the DPR's request, KPK Chief Agus Rahardjo said that the KPK will issue launch an investigation towards the case. "Apparently, there is a quite large [flow of fund to Teman Ahok] and it would require a long time [to investigate]," Agus said to reporters after the meeting.
