Data Security Council of India (DSCI) has announced the 8th edition of Best Practices Meet, which is one of India’s foremost events that focuses on the contemporary evolution of varied aspects of security. The meet will be held from 22-23 June.

The emergence of security as a critical area for application of data science, has inspired this year’s focus as “Security Data Science”.

Today’s businesses are transforming rapidly and their underlying infrastructure is becoming more complex. With the increasing need for access to organisational resources, demand in flexibility and seamless operations, organisations are bound to explore beyond human intervention-driven conventional methods to identify advanced attacks that might remain dormant in the systems for many days, months or even years before detection. Data science, as a field, has been evolving to solve many such pertinent business problems, given the sheer challenges of security that offer quite interesting insights into the field of data science.

How organisations respond to these challenges and view them as opportunities, will increasingly determine their ability to successfully eliminate threats. Apart from delving into fundamentals of security data science, the event will meet the unique needs of information security professionals from diverse industry sectors and provide an opportunity to undertake review of policy development, deliberations on global issues related to security and privacy, and check the progress of cyber security industry development efforts.

“Organisations will have to begin to optimize their responses to threats in more non-traditional ways,” said Rama Vedashree, CEO, DSCI.

“Security data science can be significant in not only giving a competitive edge to organisations when dealing with cyber-attacks but also discover and build on use-cases that can be developed into solutions,” added Vedashree.
