Mirco-blogging site Twitter has joined the International Yoga Day celebrations with a Yoga Day emoji which appears when you type #YogaDay or #योगदिवस while tweeting. Earlier this morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Yoga Day celebrations at Capitol Complex in Chandigarh.
Last year, PM Narendra Modi had asked United Nations while addressing the 193-member General Assembly to adopt International Yoga Day following which UN declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga. PM Modi had said “Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day.” Terming Yoga as way of life, he said, “It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.”
Twitter has been doing this on various occasion to promote use of hash-tags and make user’s twitter experience better.
To cheer soccer fans, Twitter has also come up with an emoji on Euro 2016 available on tweeting with #euro2016. Twitter is also celebrating 2016 shark week with #sharkweek.
In March this year, to celebrate International Women’s Day, twitter came up with #SheInspiresMe and #IWD2016.
In past, twitter had come out with various emojis like one with #MakeInIndia, #HappyDiwali. While tweeting with #MakeInIndia, the Make in India lion used to appear while tweeting with #HappyDiwali, a diya (lamp) used to appear. Following the twitter emoji, Make In India became the first non-US based brand to have such an emojji.
Twitter has also working on emoji targeting and has launched ‘Introducing emoji targeting’ for twitter ads. Twitter considers emoji as one of the ingredients of tweets which increases engagements.
