Pharma employee found murdered
Indore: Panic spread in Rau area after body of a youth was found in a room that was locked from outside on Monday morning.
Rau police suspect that the man, an employee of pharmaceutical company Cipla, was strangulated.
The matter came to fore in the morning when one Omparkash Choudhary, owner of a house that was given on rent to five people, found that the front door was locked.
He tried to call up the residents and found that one Yashpal Singh, 31, was not picking up the phone, Rau police station in-charge Vijay Sisodia told TOI. When he peeped into the room rented out to Singh, he found him sleeping on the cot. The door to his room was locked from outside. Suspecting foul play, he informed the police.
The police broke open the door and entered the room to find Singh lying on the cot with his mouth stuffed with a cloth.
"We found marks round Singh's neck indicating that he was strangulated," Sisodia said adding the body was sent for a post mortem examination.
Investigations revealed that Singh, who would have had his 32nd birthday on Monday, had last spoken to his company colleague at around 10.15pm, he said.
House owner, Choudhary had also seen him last at around 9.30pm. "It is clear that the murder was committed after midnight," said Sisodia.
Police also found over a dozen beer bottles in the room, which however seem to be old. The deceased hailed from Jharkhand and had been working in the pharmaceutical company, while residing in the rented room.
Police have registered a case of murder and further investigating is on.
