Industries exempted from licence

Mangaluru: The new industrial policy 2014-19 of Karnataka has exempted industries being set up in gram panchayat limits from obtaining a trade licence. The policy empowers engineers of Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board and Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation Ltd to approve site plans of industrial buildings and sheds and the same has been communicated to CEOs of zilla panchayats in the state.
Henry C F Britto, president of Kanara Small Industries Association, said those interested may obtain a copy of the above order from the KSIA office.
He said adding hitherto industries function in CMC, city corporation and BBMP limits were exempt from obtaining trade license. This has been extended to GP limits as well.
