Police to follow Muharram security plan on Youm-e-Ali

LAHORE - A conference of regional police officers yesterday reviewed security arrangements made for the holy month in the Punjab province.

The officers also discussed security strategy for the upcoming religious events including Youm-e-Shahadat-e- Ali, Youm-ul-Quds, and Juma-tul-Widaa. The police were directed to ensure massive deployment to make foolproof security arrangements in the holy month.

Punjab inspector general of police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera chaired the conference held at the central police office yesterday. All regional and district police officers attended the meeting through video-link whereas senior officers including Usman Khattak, Sohail Khan, Arif Nawaz, and Arif Mushtaq were present on this occasion besides others.

The conference expressed its satisfaction over the security arrangements during Ramazan, according to a police spokesperson. It was also decided in the meeting that on the occasion of Youm-e-Shahadat-e-Ali on 21st of Ramazan, the security SOP of Muharram-ul-Haram would be followed.

The conference decided that foolproof security would be ensured on the eve of Youm-ul-Quds and Juma-tul-Widaa. Similarly, the police would deploy sufficient force to provide security to the shoppers especially during the last week of the holy month.

The provincial police chief further directed the field officers that they should ensure all received calls through 15 by maintaining its daily diary. It was also decided that in field offices one IT room would be established where an I.T cadre official would be appointed to monitor the complaint handling, 8787 service, front desks, and other IT related initiatives.

Sukhera directed the field officers to ensure the provision of relief to the people belonging to the middle class by controlling the motorcycle theft in the Punjab province. The conference decided that the staff of the front desks will be responsible to issue E-Tag to every complainant and will also be responsible to incorporate the complaints received through 15.
