Jaisalmer: There is happy news for tourists coming in to this desert district. After over 15 years air service is all set to resume from Jaisalmer.
Air Supreme of Mumbai, a subsidiary of Supreme Aviation Company Limited, will be starting flights between Jaisalmer, Jaipur and Jodhpur from July end. From October, flight service between Jaisalmer to Delhi and Mumbai sectors may also begin, which for now, depends on the nod from the marketing team of Airport Authority of India (AAI) that's slated to come here on June 28.
AAI Jodhpur zone director S K Singh while confirming the resumption of flight services said preparations have been completed in this regard.
On Monday, Air Supreme representative Ravi Kumar visited Jaisalmer terminal and spoke to officers about the services the company will offer.
He said under the policy, the aviation company will provide cheap air service to Jaisalmer which will be Rs 1,500 per hour and Rs 2,500 for over 1 hour. The state government is providing full exemption in air turbine fuel to this company. The company has purchased nine 24-seater planes and it is expected that the company will fly these aircraft to Jaislamer.
Singh said similary Tata Vistara airlines will start cheap air service to Jodhpur. Tata will start air service next month for Jodhpur, Delhi, Ahmedabad sector apart from this there will flight service for Jodhpur in morning and evening.
He said in the first phase Jaisalmer-Jodhpur is being taken in cheap air service, whereas in next phase Bikaner and Agra will be taken. Singh said from October this year, there is possibility of starting air service from Jaisalmer to Ahmedabad for which AAI officials will come on June 28, and with them representatives of Spice Jet and Indigo are also expected. The team will take feedback talking to to businessmen in the tourism sector, district administration, hoteliers, oil and gas companies and wind solar companies etc., about starting air service.
