Tollgrade to Showcase Next Generation Platform For POTS and DSL Services at SuperComm '99

Tollgrade Communications (Pittsburgh, PA), a developer of testing and status monitoring systems for the telecommunications and cable television industries, announced that it will showcase its next generation DigiTest system at SuperComm '99 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta at booth number 2661, June 8-10, 1999.

DigiTest is a state-of-the-art test system that provides complete hardware testability for "lifeline" Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS). In addition, the system enables local exchange carriers to conduct basic loop pre- qualification for Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services. DigiTest's compact Digital Measurement Unit (DMU), which resides in the central office, can automatically pre-qualify local loops through load coil detection, identification and location. Obsolete load coils, which are prevalent throughout North American local exchange networks, greatly inhibit the installation of DSL service in the local loop.

Recently, Tollgrade announced its partnership with Lucent Technologies to develop DigiTest, which is compatible with Lucent's Mechanized Loop Test (MLT) System. The system is upgradable for wideband applications.

In addition to the DMU, Tollgrade's DigiTest system consists of a Digital Measurement Node (DMN), a shelf which mounts on a relay rack and is capable of housing two DMUs.
