Andre Schurrle and Julian Draxler will not be leaving Wolfsburg this summer, according to the club's sporting director Klaus Allofs. The German side endured a disappointing campaign last season, but are determined to hold of two of their prize assets, insisting they are not interested in listening to offers for the players.

Ricardo Rodriguez and Luiz Gustavo could both leave Wolfsburg this summer, as they have release clauses in their contracts. However, the club is intent on rebuilding their new-look side around Schurrle and Draxler, having already signed Cologne midfielder Yannick Gerhardt, Stuttgart's Daniel Didavi and Josip Brekalo from Dinamo Zagreb.

Schurrle and Draxler are reported to have attracted interest from Liverpool and Arsenal respectively. Yet any attempts to steal them away this summer will be rebuffed, according to Allofs.

"We always say that we listen to everything. That expressively does not apply for Andre and Julian," Allofs said, according to Bild. "We don't want to sell them, we want to return to the Champions League with them."

Allofs also rubbished speculation of a €60m (£46.3m, $68m) buy-out clause in Draxler's contract, describing the claims as "false". Despite the reported interest from Arsenal, he added: "Julian will stay."

After joining Wolfsburg from Shalke, Draxler admitted in 2015 that he did not feel ready to play overseas at that stage of his career. "From the outside, maybe my move isn't understandable," the 22-year-old attacker told Bild, amid reports he came close to joining Arsenal.

"Schalke are a great club in Germany. Many people thought that if I left it would be for a top foreign club. But I decided not to go abroad as I didn't feel ready for that kind of move."
