On June 10, Rehana Begum, wife of day labourer and Chanukah resident Shahnawaz Sardar was brought to the Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for treatment after being bitten by a cat.

Instead of administering a vaccine, the physician recommended a slew of tests and then asked Rehana to get admitted inthe hospital, despite her repeated requests for the vaccine for cat bite.

She had to pay over Tk 3,000 for the tests.

Based on her allegation of having been needlessly harassed, the district administration formed a three member committee headed by Dr Mosiur Rahman to look into the matter.

The probe found the allegations to be true and has recommended action against Dr Podder, Dr Rahman confirmed.

Dr Podder, when asked by bdnews24.com to respond, said he had nothing to say on the issue.
