EASTBOURNE, England -- Laura Robson's place at Wimbledon may be in doubt after a thigh injury forced her to withdraw from a qualifying match at the Aegon International on Sunday.

She was 6-4, 1-0 down against American Madison Brengle at Eastbourne when she retired and has little time to recover if she is to take up her place in the main draw at the All England Club next week.

An updated list from Wimbledon's referee's office later on Sunday confirmed a wild card for Robson, the world No.308, who had gone into her match against Brengle wearing strapping.

The 22-year-old Briton has struggled for consistency this year after suffering with a different injury, a wrist problem forcing her to miss much of the last two years on the women's tour.

She has been entering major tournaments using her protected ranking, a privilege extended to players returning from long-term injuries, but after Wimbledon she will have to start qualifying by right.

Meanwhile, Caroline Wozniacki set up a second-round meeting with Sam Stosur after defeating Alize Cornet of France 6-1, 6-3, while Timea Babos of Hungary will face fifth seed Petra Kvitova after a straight sets victory over Camila Giorgi of Italy.
