Superstar Mahesh Babu is all excited over winning the Filmfare Best Actor award for his performance in "Srimanthudu." He has profusely thanked his fans for their love and support.

Mahesh Babu was nominated in the category of the Best Actor along with Allu Arjun (S/O Satyamurthy), Nani (Bhale Bhale Magadivoy) Junior NTR (Temper) Prabhas (Baahubali). The organisers of the Filmfare Awards South announced the winner of 2016 at a grand ceremony held in Hyderabad on June 18.

The actor emerged as the winner, and a day after the announcement, he shared his excitement on this victory and thanked the organisers of Filmfare Awards. He tweeted on June 19: "Honoured to win the Filmfare Best Actor award for Srimanthudu. Thank you @filmfare and the Times group.."

The superstar has been on a holiday trip to London with his family after the release of "Brahmotsavam." Hence, he could not make it to the ceremony of the Filmfare Awards South to personally receive the honour. Mahesh Babu ‏tweeted: "A Big Thank You to all my fans for making this possible.. Missed being there on the big night.."

This is fifth time that Mahesh Babu has won the Filmfare Best Actor Award. He has earlier been honoured with this award for his performances in movies like "Okkadu" (2003), "Pokiri" (2006), "Dookudu" (2011) and "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu" (2013). He was also nominated for the award for his acting in "Businessman" (2012).

Mahesh Babu has starred in nine movies as a child artiste and 22 films as a hero in his acting career spanning over three decades. Besides Filmfare, the actor has also won seven Nandi awards and two SIIMA for his performances in various movies. His performance in "Srimanthudu" had also fetched him the Best Actor trophy at the IIFA Utsavam Awards.
