digital-paymentsIn a bid to authenticate beneficiaries for government entitlements under NREGA and old age pension, etc., the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the CSC e-Governance Services India have together launched an Aadhaar-enabled payment system (AePS) at locations where CSC eGov has been acting as Business Correspondent for various banks.

The system will pave way for disbursement of funds under NREGA, social security pension, handicapped old age pension or any other Central or State Government-sponsored programmes with the help of Aadhaar, which acts as a authentication proof of the beneficiary.

The system will be useful as it is based on demographic and biometric/iris information of an individual, which eliminates the threat of any fraud and non-genuine activity. In other words, Aadhaar will facilitate “anytime, anywhere, anyhow” authentication to its beneficiary under the payment system.

The service was inaugurated at Puducherry’s Ariyankuppam Grama Panchayat by V Sabapathy, Speaker of its Legislative Assembly, in the presence of Balachandran M, Chairman, NPCI and A P Hota, MD & CEO, NPCI.
